The latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics show that in the first quarter of this year, China produced a cumulative total of 890,560 tons of chemical pesticides, a year-on-year increase of only 0.02%, the lowest growth rate in recent years and close to zero growth.

By product category, in the first quarter China produced a total of 474,390 tons of herbicides, a slight year-on-year increase of 0.1%, accounting for 53% of total chemical pesticide output; total insecticide output was 118,300 tons, down 0.3% year on year; total fungicide output was 47,120 tons, a slight year-on-year increase of 0.05%.

Experts point out that the structural adjustment of chemical pesticide products is further intensifying, and pressure in areas such as environmental protection and safety is becoming increasingly apparent in the pesticide industry. As highly toxic pesticides are banned for use on fruit, vegetables, tea and Chinese medicinal materials, the market for highly toxic pesticides will shrink further, and the growth rate of pesticides will slow even more.
