According to the May global grain market trade report released by the United States Department of Agriculture, China's corn imports in 2015/16 are expected to remain stable at 3 million tons, because domestic corn production is expected to hit a record high, domestic stocks are sufficient, and the government encourages traders to purchase domestic corn while restricting imports.

Because domestic corn prices are high, traders may continue to be encouraged to import substitute feed grains, and China will remain the world's number one importer of barley and sorghum.
