2015 China Vegetable Industry Conference Held in Gaocheng, Hebei
On May 15, the 2015 China Vegetable Industry Conference and Innovation Release Conference was grandly held in Gaocheng District, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. Sun Zhonghua, Chief Agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture, attended the conference and delivered a speech. With the theme "Innovation Leads the Future," this conference held four innovation release sessions on vegetable seedlings, integrated water and fertilizer management, green prevention and control, and mechanization, aiming to promote the transformation of the vegetable industry's development model, facilitate the application of advanced and applicable new technologies in production practice as soon as possible, and advance standardized vegetable production. More than 800 people engaged in vegetable production, processing, and scientific research from across the country attended the conference.
Sun Zhonghua put forward four opinions on the development of the vegetable industry: First, stable development and balanced supply must be maintained. On the basis of stabilizing the planting area, the focus in the future should be placed on promoting the application of science and technology and improving yield per unit area and quality. Second, efforts to raise the level of quality and safety must be pursued unremittingly. The government, the market, and enterprises should all establish product quality and safety traceability systems to ensure the food safety of vegetables from both the production source and product supervision. Third, the process of vegetable mechanization should be accelerated. It is hoped that scientific research institutions engaged in agricultural machinery research, agricultural machinery production enterprises, and vegetable production enterprises will strengthen collaboration, accelerate the introduction, research and development, and application of vegetable machinery, and bring about a relatively large improvement in the level of vegetable mechanization as soon as possible. Fourth, the connection between vegetable production and sales should be actively promoted. While continuing to develop traditional circulation methods such as wholesale markets at production areas, urban agricultural product distribution centers, and delivery centers, e-commerce and other new modern circulation formats should be actively developed, and various direct sales models from large vegetable growers, cooperatives, and enterprises to supermarkets, communities, groups, and other consumer groups should be encouraged and explored.
Sun Zhonghua said that he hoped the China Vegetable Association would give full play to its role as a bridge and link and its function of serving the industry, vigorously organize and promote new technologies, recommend outstanding typical enterprises, promote exchanges and cooperation, facilitate production-sales linkage, and contribute to the sustainable and healthy development of the vegetable industry.
