The second batch of outstanding vegetable producers list was released by the China Vegetable Association

On May 15, at the China Vegetable Industry Conference, the China Vegetable Association released the second batch of the list of outstanding vegetable producers.

The Outstanding Vegetable Producer Evaluation is an activity carried out by the China Vegetable Association to promote the sustained and healthy development of the national vegetable industry, help vegetable producers become better and stronger, and provide consumers with more high-quality and safe vegetables. It strives to recommend to society as a whole a group of outstanding producers with a good production environment, standardized production procedures, strict food safety control, excellent corporate management, and a high sense of social responsibility, so as to set the direction for the industry and benchmarks for enterprises, promote the standardization and normalization of vegetable production across the industry, raise the quality and safety level of vegetable products, and provide urban and rural residents with more “vegetables they can trust”.

In December 2014, the association convened industry experts to further revise the “Implementation Rules for the Evaluation of Outstanding Vegetable Producers” and the “Comprehensive Evaluation Indicators for Outstanding Vegetable Producers”. The evaluation work officially began in January 2015, and was carried out strictly in accordance with the established evaluation rules. Producers applied on their own initiative, and the association hired national-level vegetable experts to conduct the review. First, a preliminary review of basic materials was carried out, then on-site verification was conducted for the selected producers, and the second batch of outstanding vegetable producers was evaluated. After further review by the association's evaluation and approval committee, public announcement, soliciting opinions from the county-level agricultural departments where they are located, and other steps, 18 outstanding vegetable producers were finally determined. These 18 outstanding vegetable producers come from 14 provinces across the country; they include enterprises as well as farmers' professional cooperatives; some focus mainly on processing, some mainly on export, and some mainly on distribution, indicating that a group of outstanding enterprises has emerged in different business sectors. According to the rules, the outstanding vegetable producers selected this time are valid for 3 years, and the association will conduct a supervision and evaluation once a year. It is reported that the China Vegetable Association will continue the evaluation activity, encouraging more producers to join the ranks of the outstanding and continuously raising the level of development of the vegetable industry.
