How can rural e-commerce develop? E-commerce companies gather together to draw up a blueprint
The 2015 Fourth China International Agribusiness Summit Forum was held at the Beijing campus of China Europe International Business School. The theme of this forum was "Crossover: Opening a New Era of Modern Agriculture." Representatives of e-commerce companies focused on the opportunities and challenges facing Chinese agriculture.
Alibaba Vice President Wu Minzhi said that Alibaba already has the conditions to enter the rural Taobao market. But achieving the two-way flow of "online goods to the countryside" and "agricultural products to the cities" still requires breaking through the bottlenecks of rural logistics and information flow. Alibaba launched the Rural Taobao Thousand Counties and Ten Thousand Villages Plan, planning to invest 10 billion yuan within 3-5 years and establish 1,000 county-level service centers and 100,000 village-level service stations.
JD.com Vice President Ma Jianrong said that China's rural internet development is still relatively backward, and the difference in internet penetration between urban and rural areas is relatively large. JD.com plans to accelerate the service strategy for developing rural e-commerce and innovate new rural logistics methods.
During the forum, the "CEIBS Alumni Support E-Farming Plan" project was also established, attempting to use the mobile internet to support rural development, increase farmers' incomes, and explore a new model for rural poverty alleviation.
