This year's preparations for cross-regional machine harvesting of wheat during the "three summer" period are basically complete

The reporter learned from the Ministry of Agriculture that the large-scale cross-regional wheat machine harvesting work in 2015 will kick off from south to north. In order to win the tough battle of “three summer” cross-regional wheat machine harvesting, the Ministry of Agriculture recently held a video conference on “three summer” cross-regional wheat machine harvesting work, analyzed this year's cross-regional wheat machine harvesting situation, clarified the target tasks, and deployed various work measures. Local agricultural machinery departments have strengthened machine maintenance, operator training, and supply-demand coordination, and all preparatory work is basically complete.

First, machine preparation is basically in place. Localities organized agricultural machinery personnel to go deep into villages and the front lines of production, guiding agricultural machinery operators to promptly carry out maintenance on agricultural machinery. More than 5 million units (sets) of various types of machinery have been maintained so far. It is expected that 550,000 rice-wheat combine harvesters will be put into “three summer” production nationwide this year, of which more than 300,000 will participate in cross-regional operations. Henan Province expects to add more than 5,000 wheat combine harvesters this year, and the number of combine harvesters from within and outside the province participating in summer harvest will exceed 165,000.

Second, operator training is basically in place. In accordance with the requirements of the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture on Effectively Strengthening the Quality of Mechanized Grain Harvesting Operations, localities have further strengthened skills training and safety education for agricultural machinery operators, improving their skill levels and professional quality. Hubei Province, in conjunction with training projects such as the new-type professional agriculture cultivation project, focused on providing training in agricultural machinery driving, operation, and maintenance skills for farmers who newly purchased machinery, and has trained more than 81,000 agricultural machinery operators.

In mid-March, the Ministry of Agriculture released wheat machine harvesting operation market information for 17 provinces through the “Agricultural Machinery Cross-Regional Operation Service Express” system on the China Agricultural Mechanization Information Network, promoting supply-demand matching between agricultural machinery households and wheat growers. 340,000 “Agricultural Machinery Cross-Regional Operation Certificates” were issued free of charge in April to agricultural machinery operators participating in cross-regional operations. The agricultural machinery department of Shandong Province, together with the public security and transportation departments, jointly issued a notice on organizing cross-regional operations of agricultural machinery, providing institutional guarantees for the orderly conduct of cross-regional operations. The Agricultural Machinery Bureau of Jiangsu Province continued to deepen its strategic cooperation with Sinopec Jiangsu Branch, comprehensively promoting the “three preferential and one free” (preferential supply, priority refueling, quality service, free card processing) fuel supply guarantee measures for agricultural machinery operations.

Next, the Ministry of Agriculture will strengthen the statistical work on wheat harvest progress and information release, guide localities in coordinating machinery supply and demand, strive to accelerate wheat harvest progress, and ensure that every grain is safely harvested.
