How to Advance Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation? Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Join Forces to Devise Sound Strategies
In order to implement the national innovation-driven development strategy, solidly advance the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy, promote the efficient aggregation of regional agricultural innovation resources, improve the capacity and level of agricultural science and technology innovation, and accelerate the translation and application of innovation results, on May 25, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, the Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences held the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Forum in Beijing.
A total of more than 100 experts from the three academies attended the meeting. The participating experts and officials conducted full exchanges and discussions on current key scientific and technological issues in agriculture, including urban agriculture, modern seed industry, safe production of agricultural products, and agricultural ecological environment. During the discussions, experts in various fields deeply analyzed the common issues and scientific and technological advantages of agricultural science and technology development in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, and jointly planned future Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei agricultural science and technology innovation work from the perspectives of coordinated innovation strategy, frontier basic research in agriculture, translation of excellent new technological achievements, construction of safe agricultural product bases, and building of talent teams.
Through exchanges and discussions at the meeting, this forum jointly identified multiple areas of coordinated innovation business, including research on regional agricultural planning for Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, ecological environment protection and regional sustainable development, seed industry science and technology innovation, controllable premium agriculture across the entire industrial chain, multifunctional leisure agriculture in suburban areas, research and demonstration of agricultural Internet of Things technology, and rural and agricultural informatization.
At the forum, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences proposed the establishment of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Agricultural Science and Technology Coordinated Innovation Center and signed a co-construction agreement. The center is an innovation work coordination institution with the three parties' agricultural academies of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei as the main body, uniting relevant agricultural science and technology resources in the region, and focusing on major strategic issues of modern agriculture as a whole, common technical challenges, and key technical issues in regional agricultural industry development to carry out coordinated innovation and translation of achievements. Its positioning is, in accordance with the principles of complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win results, and solid advancement, to take promoting the adjustment, optimization and upgrading of the agricultural industrial structure and coordinated development in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei as the focus of cooperation, gather modern agricultural innovation resources, collaboratively carry out agricultural science and technology innovation work, and lead and support the construction of modern agriculture and urban-rural integration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. At the same time, it explores mechanisms and models for coordinated innovation in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei agricultural science and technology.
Relevant responsible persons from the Rural Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Department of Science and Education of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the science and technology and agriculture competent departments of the three provinces and municipalities of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei also attended the forum activities.
