VNA Hanoi——The Vietnam National Agricultural Extension Center and Guilin Group recently co-hosted a forum to promote the development of organic agricultural production in Hue city. The forum drew representatives from agriculture departments of some provinces and cities, experts, scientists and farmers.

According to information provided at the forum, by the end of 2019, Vietnam's organic agricultural production area reached nearly 240,000 hectares, a 4-fold increase compared with 2016. Currently, 46 of the country's 63 provinces and cities carry out organic production activities.

Vietnamese organic agricultural products are exported to 180 countries worldwide and have entered high-end markets such as the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and South Korea. This result is attributed to the National Agricultural Extension Center's promotion of organic agricultural production through various agricultural extension activities such as building demonstration models, training and providing information, and communications.

Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center, said that Guilin Group has very unique products in organic agriculture, such as Guilin Group's organic rice, and more recently, following a safe biological farming model, Guilin Group's organic meat products.

In addition, the National Agricultural Extension Center has established various models in several localities, such as organic vegetables and organic aquatic products in the southwestern region. In addition, the area under organic coffee and pepper cultivation is also expanding.
