Yidai Tianjiao is a new wild-collected variety of Cymbidium lianpan, native to the Nujiang Gorge area of western Yunnan. This variety is a medium-wide-leaf dwarf Cymbidium lianpan, with 5-7 leaves per plant, leaf length 15-25cm, leaf width 0.9-1.4cm, semi-upright type, leaf tips slightly rounded, graceful plant shape, and new shoots emerging with purplish-red crystal. It blooms in early spring each year, and the flowers are typical mother-and-child flowers, with 2-4 large flowers and 5-9 medium and small flowers per scape, large and small flowers opening simultaneously, with charming flower color, appealing to all. The large flowers are multi-petal multi-lip strange flowers, multi-colored, with lotus-type petal shape, peach-red, with 10-30 or more small lip petals borne at the base of the column, most of which are lips growing on lips (a phenomenon that remains extremely rare among all kinds of strange flowers to this day), their lip petals having a red U shape printed on a white background, with a high degree of butterfly transformation, very beautiful; the small flowers can open normally, with petal butterfly flowers, showing forms such as three-star butterfly, four-star butterfly, and five-star butterfly; and at the base of the small flowers many small lip pieces grow (a growth characteristic never found in other orchid varieties). The unique feature of this orchid is that the dwarf plant's flowers cover the leaves, the flower scape is thick and sturdy, the large flowers' sepals and petals also have small flowers at their bases, the lips growing on lips are very peculiar and rather special, the small flowers often show butterfly transformation, many small lip pieces grow on the flower scape, the whole flower is densely proliferous, well-arranged in pleasing disorder, strange within regular, strange and regular in order, blooming rather regularly and stably, with strong color contrast, brilliant and diverse, orderly in layout, a mass of blooming flowers, with delicate fragrance, stable traits, and it is the finest of mother-and-child flowers.
