The place of origin is Hejiang, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province. It was selected and bred in 1988 by Ya'an orchid enthusiast Chen Daming, and was first published under the name "Yazhou White Plum" in the January 2005 issue of "Yazhou Orchids". Later, orchid peddlers used that photo to sell fakes, which caused confusion in the market varieties of "Yazhou White Plum". In the summer of 2006, Mr. Zheng Yuhui, deputy secretary-general of the China Orchid Association, saw the actual flower at the flower owner's place and renamed it "Qingyi White Plum" to distinguish it from the "Yazhou White Plum" currently sold on the market.
The flower color of this variety is elegant, and the flower receptacle is emerald green, just like green clothing. In addition, the Qingyi River happens to flow through Ya'an, so it was initially named Qingyi White Plum. Most of the Yazhou White Plum currently circulating on the market has a fatal shortcoming: the flowers are very difficult to open, and the petals and column stick together, often withering while still in bud.
