In recent years, Xiaoxian County has comprehensively raised the level of industrialization of vegetable peas through government promotion, market traction, and farmer-enterprise interaction and other linked approaches, improving production conditions, implementing standardized production, building high-standard vegetable pea production demonstration plots, and cultivating trading markets.
Technology leadership, technical support. Since Xiaoxian County was listed as a demonstration county of the national edible bean industry technology system in 2011, through the guidance of the system, the direction of the Hefei Comprehensive Experiment Station, and the promotion and application of advanced technology, edible bean production in Xiaoxian County has achieved substantial development.
Formulate regulations, create brands. The newly revised "Pollution-Free Production Technical Regulations for Vegetable Peas" in this county was approved as a local standard of Anhui Province, filling a gap in the province. Through publicity and training, farmers were strongly guided to plant on a large scale, and the ten-thousand-mu green food brand of vegetable peas in Sunweizi Township was created. The production area environment and product quality passed sampling inspection and verification by the provincial green food agency and met green food requirements. In 2014, it obtained green food production area and product certification.
Ensure quality, expand the market. Improve production conditions, implement standardized production, and build high-standard vegetable pea production demonstration plots. Every year during the product marketing season, specialized cooperatives, family farms, farmer brokers, vegetable associations and other intermediary organizations set up purchasing points in the production area, and after collection the products are transported to Harbin, Beijing, Tianjin and other major cities across the country.
Accelerate upgrading, innovate and develop. Further accelerate the selection and cultivation of new vegetable pea varieties suitable for planting. Increase capital investment, and support new agricultural business entities to participate in vegetable pea production, sales, storage, and processing. Increase the application of mechanized harvesting. Actively introduce and develop leading vegetable pea processing enterprises, and develop quick-frozen vegetable pea foods.
