Selected in 1990 by Lü Jianjun of Zhoushan, Zhejiang. The outer three sepals are narrow and long. The two petals have become lip-like (tongue-like), and the lip-like portions are black-purple, hence the name Black Cat. The flower color is tender green. The outer three sepals are green, and the petals are purple-black edged in white, with the lip bearing a U-shaped color block curling backward. The bud sheath is red, the flower scape is tall, and the leaves are erect.

The flower bud has a pale green base color, fine purple veins, pink-purple clouding, and green coloration at the tip. The flower stalk is slender and round, rising level with the leaf frame. The outer three sepals are bamboo-shaped, the main sepal is slightly angled, the petals have become lip-like, the lip is covered with purple-black cinnabar dots, the petals turn upward and flare, and the lip is narrow, long, and curled. The center of the flower closely resembles the shape of a black cat's head, which is how it got its name.
