This variety is a red small lotus-petal Spring Sword orchid (Cymbidium tortisepalum var. longibracteatum), produced in Mingshan County, Sichuan Province. Its sepals' lotus-petal characteristics are not sufficiently pronounced, but the flower colors range from bright red and pink above, with deep red within the pink, set off against the reddish-yellow leaf color, creating a harmonious and lovely contrast. The leaves are sturdy, the leaf posture elegant and graceful, with uncommon charm.

This variety is an excellent type of Spring Sword orchid in the odd-form pure-color category, produced in Sichuan. The sepals are broad and large, with a wavy, curled form, rich in curvilinear beauty. What is rare is that upon the right sepal, additional sepals have grown overlapping on top; the twin petals have hardened into silkworm-moth petals, together guarding the spherical yellow anther cap and the ruyi tongue. The entire flower is purely in cool tones, hence the name Silkworm Moth Su. Its leaves, flower receptacle, and petals all contain a small amount of crystal-variegation tissue. Under its influence, irregular contraction appears, resulting in natural shrinkage or crinkling of the petal edges and leaf edges. This variety possesses a certain potential for artistic variation.
