Both 'He Zhi Guan' (Crown of the Lotus) and 'Xiu He Ding' (Elegant Lotus Tripod) were bought from the same person. 'He Zhi Guan' cost 700 yuan at the time, and 'Xiu He Ding' cost 900 yuan. Both were dragon-root seedlings, and 'He Zhi Guan' was bought one month earlier than 'Xiu He Ding'. Judging by timing, they were certainly different dragon-root seedlings; judging by seedling type, they were probably just plants from the same mountain.
This variety belongs to the butterfly-flower type of Spring Sword Orchid. Its sepals are roughly diamond-shaped, and its petals closely resemble silkworm-moth petals, with tightly rolled edges forming a hood, making it a lotus-form narcissus-petal flower. The lip and petals are sprinkled with red spots, setting off the emerald-green flower in incomparable elegance. Its floral variability is exceedingly rich, and several unusual butterfly flowers have already appeared together at the tip of the stem, like a swarm of butterflies racing for spring, a scene of great prosperity. Its leaves are upright, with level, drooping tips; the leaf surface is relatively broad, the veins hard in texture and conspicuous, and the vein grooves distinct; the leaf color is yellow-green. The leaf blades are scattered with crystal spots. Its capacity for further variation is strong.
