"Produced in the late Qing Dynasty from the household of Gu Xiangxiao in Suzhou. After Gu passed away it went to Wu Enyuan of Jiufeng Ge in Hangzhou. The outer three sepals have large heads and slender bases, soft silkworm-moth staminal column petals, a large ruyi tongue. The flower stem is green, and the color is like a green fruit, hence the name. The greatest characteristic of this flower is the green stem and green flower, only the flower droops slightly at the shoulders (when the flower is small it does not droop at the shoulders). The bract leaves are dark red. The old leaves are semi-drooping in form, the leaf tips slightly blunt, the leaf veins deep, the foot sheaths low. Currently it is very widely circulated. A robust flowering nature."

Green Ying - selected and bred by Gu Xiangxiao of Suzhou in 1902. Leaves semi-drooping, thick and glossy. Flower scape tall, almost level with the leaf surface, blue-green. The flower is a narcissus-form plum-petal type, the staminal column petals form a hood, slightly open, the lip is short and small, a large ruyi tongue, with a red spot in the middle.

New shoots purple-green, the shoot tips slightly tinged with purple-red blush and red streaks. Leaf texture thick, soft and broad, semi-drooping, old leaves bow-shaped, leaf width about 1.1-1.3 cm, length about 26-32 cm, blue-green, plump, glossy, leaf veins with fine dense serrations, leaf tips slightly blunt, posture gentle. Bract leaves green, with dark green vein patterns on the bract leaves, the color becoming lighter layer by layer from outside to inside. The 3 sepals have long feet and slender bases, blue-green, glossy, thick in texture, the front part round and large, curving inward into an arc-shaped concave surface, forming a spoon shape, slightly drooping at the shoulders, sometimes also appearing with level shoulders. Silkworm-moth staminal column petals, surface emerald green, adorned with water-pipe blue-green vein patterns, slightly thin around the edges, tightly edged, forming a hood shape, the hood head milky white, the surface smooth, soft and supple in texture, with a sense of elegance and delicacy, the two staminal column petals tightly closed, completely covering the column. Large ruyi tongue, colored like white jade, the tongue edge tightly contracting upward (turning up), forming an upward-facing shallow hood shape, resembling the "ruyi tongue" of jade carving handicrafts, within the hood is a conspicuous and gorgeous ingot-shaped red spot, extending forward horizontally, round and upright, dignified, very beautiful. Green Ying has a long-lasting flowering period, slender, about 10-12 cm tall, emerging above the leaf framework or equal in height to the leaves, the first-generation plum-petal Chunlan with truly green flowers and green scapes is only this one variety. The large blue-green slender flower scapes set each other off, further enhancing each other, full of delightful charm, deeply loved by everyone.

Leaf posture: produces green shoots, a medium drooping leaf, length can reach eight or nine cun, deep green with very good gloss, resembling the leaves of "Song Mei", possessing a leisurely and unhurried elegant posture.

Flower appearance: the three petals have round large flower heads, slender bases, the flower flesh like glutinous rice, the color like green plum very clear, seldom drooping at the shoulders like a roof-shaped shoulder, soft silkworm-moth staminal column petals, large ruyi tongue, but after blooming it gradually opens wider and becomes a round tongue, the red spot on the tongue is vivid, the flower stem is slender and can even grow to seven or eight cun when flowering, truly a famous flower.

Under the same environment, the glossiness of Green Ying's leaves is somewhat better than that of Song Mei.This variety has a very high probability of viral disease, and sometimes the viral disease characteristics appear in alternate generations.
