Tianyihe Cymbidium goeringii Variety Characteristics and Appreciation Introduction

Every high-priced orchid has a legendary story, hehe. At around 2 p.m. on February 17, 2006, at the Guizhou Ethnic Culture Palace, the site of the 16th National Orchid Expo. A middle-aged couple walked straight to the organizing committee on the first floor and brought out a pot of orchids wrapped in several layers of newspaper. As the newspaper was gently peeled away layer by layer, a lotus-petal Cymbidium goeringii of pure color appeared before their eyes. Everyone was instantly stunned. "Perfect, too perfect!" This pot of flowers was none other than the "Tianyihe" that later stole the show in Wenjiang, and this middle-aged couple was none other than Chen Jiwu of Chengdu and his wife. When people surged into the exhibition hall, this pot of flowers was immediately surrounded, and even the owner of the flowers could not get near his own blooms. The relevant personnel of the organizing committee immediately decided to place this pot of orchids in the premium area on the second floor, and then called in two armed police officers specifically to guard this pot of flowers. Orchid enthusiasts captivated by "Tianyihe" shook hands with Chen Jiwu and tried to get close to him, hoping he would spare them one plant. 800,000 per plant, 1 million per plant, 1.5 million per plant - experts in the orchid world kept making offers, and the price of "Tianyihe" soared. But Chen Jiwu smiled and did not answer. A Japanese group made up of more than 20 people also took a liking to "Tianyihe," and the price rose again by 300,000, to 1.8 million per plant! Yet Chen Jiwu still did not speak.
"If you look at different varieties of orchids as a pyramid, 'Tianyihe' stands at the very top!" Chen Jiwu was very confident in his flower. In 1992, Chen Jiwu bought this orchid plant at Qingshiqiao for 10,000 yuan. After he brought the orchid home, Chen Jiwu took special care of it. For a full 13 years, the first thing he did every morning when he got up was tend to it. Chen Jiwu revealed that he now owns six or seven plants of "Tianyihe," and that he would let one or two plants go, but that in addition to a high price he would also choose the person: "For those who do not understand orchids and do not love orchids, no matter how much money they offer, I will not sell!" The reporter recently learned that Chen Jiwu had already sold "Tianyihe" to an orchid enthusiast in Dujiangyan for an astronomical price of 5 million yuan for two plants.
