"Selected before the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression by Wu Enyuan, owner of Jiufeng Pavilion in Hangzhou. The three outer petals are broad and large, with a slight notch at the tip; the soft shallow-pouched holding petals (palm-like) and the large round lip bears a single bright red dot. The flower scape is slender and sometimes extends above the leaves. The flower form is large, giving the impression that the scape cannot support it and it is about to topple. The color is green, and the shoulders are level. In all orchids of the wavy-petaled narcissus type, the tips of the three outer petals mostly have a slight notch, and the tip of the lip also has a slight notch; only this flower has no notch. The old leaves are semi-arching in shape, with sharp leaf tips and thin leaf texture. The bracts are pale red. It is currently the most widely circulated wavy-petaled narcissus type."

"'Yipin' (First Rank) was the highest grade of official rank in feudal society. Among the traditional famous varieties of Chunlan, the fact that a flower could be given a title such as 'Yipin' fully shows the grade of this flower. With its emerald green color, its elegant form, its calm and grand spirit, its soft and moist texture, and its excellent flower retention, it leaves orchid lovers praising it endlessly!"
