In 1999, "Red Sun Baoding" bloomed. The dazzling red paired twin flowers are delightful. The five petals are round and tight, the lip is short and round, the tongue is large, with three noses, like a slowly rising red sun, shining with rosy clouds in the emerald sky, with a fresh fragrance.
History: In the winter of 1989, an orchid grower surnamed Hu from Tangdi No. 1 Village, Lishui, Shaoxing, dug up four plants with two flowers in the mountains of eastern Zhejiang, and later transferred them to Zhu Limu for cultivation. Because it was winter and the weather was especially cold, the entire plant froze to death, leaving only 2 pseudobulbs. After careful management by Zhu, 2 small shoots emerged. Later, in the autumn of 1990, Jin Dingxian bought them for 1400 yuan to introduce the variety, and cultivated them carefully until they bloomed in 1999. Jin Dingxian said: "When I saw those 3 orchid plants, more vigorous than the leaves of Luyun, with thicker and more glutinous leaf texture, wrinkled, with a deeper green leaf color, bearing three flower buds, both large and round, all double flowers, I lost my soul and sat there unwilling to leave..."

Characteristics: The three outer petals are tightly round with contracted bases, the flesh is especially thick, shell-shaped, with a large round lip, the lip is white with evenly distributed red patches. The stem is tall, the outer petals are entirely red, and the inner wall is slightly tinged with light green. The entire flower bud is bright red, the double heads round like lotus seeds, the colored shell is gorgeous, the red veins are lively and translucent, and the red halo is crystal clear. It is a rather high-grade double-flowered red "lotus" precious fine variety.
