How can you make flower spikes grow taller? These care methods are essential to master

When admiring an orchid, you should look at whether the flowers are elegant and whether the leaf posture is graceful. Only when the tall flower scape and the leaves are well matched can it be a truly beautiful sight.

For summer-blooming varieties such as Cymbidium ensifolium (four-season orchid), the time from bud formation to flower opening is very short, and the height of the flower spike is determined by the care given before the orchid blooms. Personally, I think these varieties should be given more sun and less nitrogen fertilizer, so the orchid plant grows short and sturdy, and the flowers naturally rise above the leaves.

For winter and spring-blooming varieties such as Cymbidium goeringii var. longibracteatum and Cymbidium goeringii, the buds form in autumn, and it takes several months from bud emergence to flowering. During this period, bud care becomes relatively important. The flower scapes of Cymbidium goeringii and Cymbidium goeringii var. longibracteatum are generally not tall, and it is not easy for the flowers to rise above the leaves. After the buds emerge, you can cover them with sphagnum moss, so the first section of the flower spike will grow relatively tall, laying the foundation for the flower spike to stretch higher later.

After the buds begin to swell, place them in a cool, shaded, and humid spot, and the flower stalk will stretch higher.
