It was introduced in 1995 from Shi Changsong of Yixing, at which time there were only 4 small plants and no flowers had been seen; after five years of careful cultivation, it has now grown to more than 20 plants; on March 5 of this year, it finally bloomed and released its fragrance.
The leaves are emerald green and glossy, 25-30cm long and 0.8-1cm wide, with thick and substantial leaf texture; there is a leaf groove at the base, and above the middle the leaves gradually become flat and spreading. The leaf shape is semi-arching, with a rather graceful posture.
The flower scape is slender and upright, reaching up to 12cm. The bracts have light purple vein markings. The three outer petals have short stalks and round heads, with pointed tips at the petal ends and fine constricted bases. The main petal is dignified, forming an upper cover shape, with a majestic appearance; the two lateral sepals extend horizontally, forming a straight-line shoulder. The petals form a silkworm-moth hood holding the center, round, neat and smooth; the lip is a ruyi tongue, closely connected to the holding petals, and never hangs down.
