Petal type: Red-shell large lotus-flower official-type narcissus petal. History: Selected during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty by Chen Yangeng of Jiaxing, Zhejiang. Also known as Yanzi or Chiyanzi. Characteristics: The three outer petals are flat-edged, long and broad, in lotus-petal form, with drooping shoulders, soft shallow pouch-like central petal, large persimmon tongue, red-green flowers, and slender tall flower scapes. If the leaf cluster is thin and weak, it may produce narcissus-petal flowers with no pouch and a smooth lip.
