In 2002, a wild-collected dragon-root seedling was found on the east river valley slope at the border between Nujiang Prefecture and Baoshan in the Nujiang Gorge. After more than 3 years of careful cultivation, it bloomed for the first time in early 2005. This orchid: leaf width 0.8-1 cm, leaf length 35-50 cm, leaves emerald green, leaf shape semi-pendant, naturally free and easy. The leaf surface is slightly dehydrated, the leaf tips curve inward, and both the small shoots and flower buds are bright purple-red with obvious ribs. One scape bears 2-3 flowers, held semi-above the foliage. The flower color is light yellow when first opening, turning golden yellow after 3 or 4 days, and becoming more yellow and brilliant afterward. The three outer petals have constricted bases and broad angles, forming a standard plum-type petal, with a level, flat shoulder. The inner petals clasp tightly together, and the ru yi round tongue has a bright red, unusually large colorful blotch that is extremely dazzling and brilliant. From 2005 to the present, it has bloomed every year with stable characteristics.
