Any lip without color patches is a plain-heart petal. Since most of the pigments in orchids are concentrated on the lip, generally if the lip has no color patch, the three outer petals and the column petals will also have no color patch. In traditional plain petals, the three outer petals and the column petals are green, and the lip is white. Correspondingly, ordinary orchid lips, because they carry red or purple, are called halo flowers.
By lip color, they can be divided into green-base plain, white-base plain, yellow-base plain, peach-cheek plain (red halos on both sides of the base of the tongue), and bristle plain (faint fine red on the tongue coating). For plain-heart petals, green moss color is the most prized. Recently the meaning of plain petals has been expanded: any flower in which the tongue and the flower are the same color is called a plain-heart petal, such as yellow-flower plain, red-flower plain, and purple-flower plain. Such flowers have been found in Sichuan, Yunnan-Guizhou, and the two Huguang regions, but are relatively rarely found in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang area.
By the three outer petals and the column petals, they can also be divided into plum-type plain, such as Cai Mei Plain; lotus-type plain, such as Yang's Lotus Plain and Wentuan Plain; butterfly plain, such as Yang's Plain Butterfly; and bamboo-leaf plain, such as Yingu Plain and Tiantong Plain. As for ordinary grass plain, because the petals are narrow like chicken claws, they are not included among the fine flowers.

1. Claw flowers. There are several types: green ground with gold claws (yellow claws), green ground with silver claws (white claws), white ground with green claws, and yellow ground with green claws. Since orchid leaves develop claws, the corresponding flowers also develop claws. Such as Golden-Edged Jade Garment, Dawn, and so on.
2. Striped flowers. The petals have irregular yellow and white lines. Since orchid leaves produce striped patterns, striped patterns also appear in the corresponding flowers, such as Five-Color Crown.
3. Edged flowers. Petals edged with white or yellow are called edged flowers. Since the leaves develop edges, sometimes the corresponding flowers also develop edges, such as Golden-Edged Jade Garment.
4. Speckled flowers. Irregular yellow spots and white spots appear on the petals. Since spots appear on the orchid leaves, sometimes the corresponding flowers also develop spots, but this phenomenon occurs relatively rarely.
