Sichuan edible fungi and other agricultural products supplied to the Macao market
Recently, the Sichuan Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and the Guangdong Zhuhai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau held a signing ceremony in Chengdu for the "Memorandum of Cooperation on Promoting the Supply of Sichuan Food and Agricultural Products to Macao." This signing marks the formal establishment of the inspection, quarantine, supervision and release model for food and agricultural products supplied to Macao between Sichuan and Zhuhai under “inspection and quarantine at the place of origin, direct clearance at the port.”
In 2015, Sichuan exported to Macao a total of 835.9 tons of food and agricultural products, including baijiu, frozen pork, instant vermicelli and frozen edible fungi, worth 9.535 million USD. After the signing of this agreement, the vegetables supplied from Sichuan to Macao are expected to increase from about 5 tons per day at present to 10 to 20 tons per day. For Sichuan's edible fungi product exports, this undoubtedly opens up new sales channels.
Sichuan Province is an important edible fungi production area in China, with diverse local climate types, rich germplasm resources and balanced year-round production. The main edible fungi varieties produced include button mushroom, Hypsizygus marmoreus, oyster mushroom, shiitake mushroom, tea tree mushroom, enoki mushroom, shaggy ink cap, king oyster mushroom, hairy wood ear and silver ear, which can meet the diverse needs of the market. To ensure the quality of vegetables supplied to Macao, Sichuan has currently selected 28 vegetable production bases as candidate bases for cooperation in the vegetable supply project to Macao.
