Tengzhou Longyang Green Radish Granted National Geographical Indication Registration and Protection

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture released the national list of agricultural products registered and protected under geographical indications, and “Longyang Green Radish” was among them, becoming one of the 61 agricultural products nationwide to receive registration and protection this time.

The geographical indication for “Longyang Green Radish” designates a protected area covering 7 offices and 55 administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Longyang Town. From now on, all green radishes produced within this protected area may use the above-mentioned geographical indication public logo. An agricultural product geographical indication refers to a specific agricultural product label that indicates the product originates from a particular region and is named after the region. After obtaining national agricultural product geographical indication registration and protection, the visibility of “Longyang Green Radish” will be enhanced, and its competitiveness in markets within and outside the province will be improved.

It is understood that in recent years, Longyang Town has been fully promoting the building of “brand agriculture” by cultivating and strengthening new agricultural business entities and strengthening whole-process quality and safety management of agricultural products, having cumulatively established 89 new agricultural business entities including farmers' professional cooperatives and family farms, registered 27 agricultural product brands such as Ruiyang, Tengyang, and Yinongsi, obtained 15 “pollution-free agricultural product” certifications and 4 “green food” certifications, and the certified area of “three products and one indication” has reached 30,000 mu.
