Flower name: Hexian. Origin: the border area between Luzhou, Sichuan and Guizhou

Content: A new lotus-type narcissus variety discovered in recent years (not the same species as the Hexian circulated in Guangdong in earlier years). This flower has a strong, robust plant form, broad and soft leaves of a yellow-green color, with obvious wavy patterns on the leaf surface (already quite noticeable when new shoots are unfurling their leaves). It has slightly more leaves than ordinary Sijilan, and strong seedlings often have more than five leaves; likewise, the number of flowers is greater, with more than seven or eight possible. The flower stalk rises high above the leaves, giving an extraordinary presence. The buds of this flower are arranged as a small flat-topped cluster, and when it blooms it is a guanzhong lotus-type narcissus, with the outer petals contracting at the base and flaring at the corners (when the seedlings are strong and water is well controlled during the flowering period, it can produce very standard lotus-type outer petals). The center is full, and the flower holds well, making it a superior variety among lotus-type narcissus orchids.
