Which new pea varieties are suitable for planting in Qujing
Pea is an important crop for crop rotation and soil improvement. The perennial planting area of pea in Qujing is 13333 hm2, second only to broad bean and ranking second among food legumes. Because pea breeding in Qujing started relatively late, farmers mostly plant local old varieties, with seed exchange and mixing and serious variety mixture. In production, there is a lack of breakthrough varieties with multiple resistance, high quality and high yield. The dry seed yield is mostly 1300-1800 kg/hm2, so the role of pea in agricultural production and the adjustment of the planting structure has not yet received due attention. In view of the actual situation of pea production, the Characteristic Crop Research Institute of Qujing Academy of Agricultural Sciences, after years of selection, testing and demonstration, has bred and screened out several new pea varieties suitable for planting in Qujing.
