What conditions are needed for orchid root growth
Origin: Sichuan, developer: Chen Deping
Under normal conditions, orchid roots can grow 15-25 cm in a year. Potted orchids, due to various limiting reasons, usually cannot reach this standard; if not grown well, they not only fail to grow but also rot. Therefore, soil selection and management for potted orchids are very important. For Chun Jian, Da Hong Zhu Sha, Bai Yu Su, Shi Ba Xue Shi, and others with relatively thick roots, lumpy peat soil or weathered rock fragments should be chosen, and a small amount of leaf mold may also be added. For Duo Duo Xiang, Xia Lan, Mo Lan, Song Chun, and others with smaller roots, leaf mold plus mountain soil is suitable for potting. When potting, the roots should be arranged evenly, add soil up to the pot rim, then lift the orchid plant slightly so that it is distributed naturally, then shake the pot several times so that the roots and soil are pressed tightly together. After planting, water once thoroughly and place it in a spot with ample diffused light and good ventilation.
