Introduction to the characteristics of the Cymbidium ensifolium 'Tiegu Huangya' variety

Cymbidium ensifolium 'Tiegu Huangya' (Guose Tianxiang) is an evolved variety of the traditional four-season orchid classic 'Tiegu Su'. This variety sprouts easily, and its pure white petals are edged with a striking green border. When the leaf buds emerge from the soil they are yellow and carry a distinct green cap. The flowers are extremely fragrant, making it an excellent variety that combines both floral beauty and leaf variegation among four-season orchids.

Cymbidium ensifolium 'Tiegu Huangya', also known as (Guose Tianxiang), is an authentic evolved form of 'Tiegu Suxin'. Its leaves are firm and powerful, and its flowers are small and exquisite, with a flower diameter of about 3.5 cm. It is extremely easy to cultivate, prefers to grow in clusters, and dislikes being divided into single plants. Given sunlight and rain, with light and dilute fertilization, it has a uniquely charming appeal. When the leaf buds emerge from the soil they are yellow with a green cap, and the growing leaves display a perfect first-bright-then-dark yellow-centered variegation. As the leaves mature and grow larger, the initially bright variegation gradually fades, and its variegation pattern reappears on the flowers when it blooms, with the pure white petals edged in a striking green border, exquisitely beautiful and truly classic. The fragrance is extremely good!

The Tiegu series are all rather reluctant to bloom. Below is an introduction to a few small methods for getting Tiegu to bloom!
1. Strong seedlings are the prerequisite. Tiegu Huangya has a relatively high sprouting rate, and it is important that the new shoots grow strong. The pseudobulbs should be plump, and it is best to keep several plants in one clump!
2. As the flowering season approaches, control water intermittently. For example, if you originally watered once every 3 days, you can extend it by 1 or 2 intervals to watering once every 5 or 6 days. Tiegu Huangya itself is much more drought-tolerant than other Cymbidium ensifolium varieties.
3. Appropriately increase sun exposure, and appropriately increase both the duration and intensity of sunlight.
4. Regularly apply phosphorus fertilizer. After the new seedlings had basically finished growing in July, I sprayed 2000-fold Hyponex No. 3 once every two weeks.
