Qiuzhi is mainly named because its flowering period is around October to December. Personally, I think it is very much like the "Taoye Lan" described by the late orchid expert Wu Yingxiang in his book "Chinese Orchids"! In Chinese Orchids, Mr. Wu recorded it as follows: Taoye Lan --- terrestrial, pseudobulbs inconspicuous, leaves 6---10 in a cluster. Leaves...
Songchun leaves are harder, while Qiuzhi leaves are softer. Songchun leaves all grow out within one year, while Qiuzhi leaves will still grow new central leaves over several years.
The difference in the roots is the greatest. Songchun roots are thin, while Qiuzhi roots are thick, so they are very easy to distinguish.
Songchun has fewer leaves, generally 11-13, while Qiuzhi has more leaves, generally 16 or more.
