How is the Baodao Fairy Cymbidium ensifolium? Introduction to its variety characteristics

Three-star butterfly, a bizarre flower, a famous variety; together with Yuxue Tianxiang and Fuxing Qidie, it is listed as one of the three great famous varieties of Taiwan Four Seasons Orchid. Its column-heart petals all transform into lip petals, forming a bizarre flower with three lips standing at the top.

Baodao Fairy was collected in 1975 by an orchid farmer in Fuxing Township, Taiwan, China, and sold to Taoyuan Luzhu orchid enthusiasts Lin Jinsheng, Lu Dengwang, and Li Zhaoxiong for cultivation. The following year it produced a three-star bizarre flower, beautiful as a fairy, so it was named Baodao Fairy. It was later registered by Mr. Lin Yingzhu, with registration number 0001, and was included in the "Collection of Famous Four Seasons Orchid Varieties", and is deeply favored by the orchid world.

The pseudobulb of this variety is short and oval, the leaf stalk is slender and long, usually above 5 cm, the leaf stalk ring is obviously raised, and the leaf opens at the upper edge of the ring, resembling a round collar. The leaf blade is narrowly strap-shaped, green in color, with deep sunken main veins, raised outer veins, slightly backward-curled leaf margins, and both the leaf surface and back are smooth. The leaves are 20---35 cm long and 0.5---0.8 cm wide. The leaf tip is smoothly pointed, the leaf teeth are very fine, with little sharpness, and the leaf posture alternates between upright with drooping tips and arcing twists. From the leaf stalk to the leaf base margin there is an obvious reddish-brown blush. The flowering period is from June to July, with an inflorescence of four flowers, a drooping-shoulder narcissus-petal flower. The sepals are yellow-green, and the base of the sepals has reddish-brown fine bead-like rays. The column-heart petals on both sides of the main sepal are light yellow with reddish-brown patches, similar in color to the lip petals, except that the petal tips are slightly cyan, and the lip petal tips curl slightly backward. The whole flower is large and well-formed, a true three-tongue flower, with warm and cool colors arranged in an orderly way, elegant and refined, and the flower fragrance is rich and lingering. Baodao Fairy is not only charming in flower quality, but its leaf posture and leaf color also make people linger, and it is therefore praised as the finest among orchids. Apart from the leaves being prone to black spots and easily growing two leaves, Baodao is good in all other respects, a small plant with large flowers, brilliant colors, and quite high cost performance.
