Introduction to the Cangshan Mei and Changjiao Mei Cymbidium tortisepalum varieties

Orchids 0 views
Also known as: Cangshan Mei, a Cymbidium tortisepalum variety. It gets its name because its petals are of the plum type (plum-type narcissus petal) and the base of the petals is notably long; it was first called Yuantou Lianban. The leaves are medium-wide, with 6-7 orchid leaves per plant growing in a clump, leaf width 0.6-1.3 cm, leaf length about 40-60 cm, with deep vein grooves; the midrib is prominent, transparent and hard, and when observed from the underside of the leaf, the midrib and the two lateral veins all stand out. The leaf stalk has no joint, the cross-section is "V"-shaped, the leaves are slanted upright and arching, and the leaf margins are serrated. New shoots emerge white with faint red dots. It blooms in late winter and early spring, with 2 to 3 flowers per scape, flower diameter 4-4.5 cm; the flowers rise above the foliage, standing gracefully on the arching leaves. The buds are dark green; when first opening the petals are on the green side, becoming slightly white-yellow when fully open, and turning white in the later stage. The petals are round with a hooded shape, and the front of the lip petals has fleshy raised points forming a semi-hard lip. The flowers are dignified and elegant, with clear and bright markings, combining strength and softness, free of the commonplace.
