Dangshan He is a Cymbidium lianpan variety with lotus-type petals; it is named for its lotus-shaped petals and because it was planted in the "Dangshan Zhou" orchid garden. It was originally called lotus-type white lianpan and originates from the Lancang River valley in western Yunnan. It was discovered in 1995, and its traits are stable. When Dangshan He has just opened its bud, it can be described as a perfect lotus-petal flower, but its drawback is that the petals are thin, the flower scape does not rise above the leaves, and after a few days the petals stretch out and curl back.

The new buds are plump, the bud color is purplish red, the young shoots are white-red, the shoots are round and thick, and the plant form is robust. The leaves are 40-70 cm long and 1-1.2 cm wide, belonging to the medium-wide leaf type, a typical broad-leaved lianpan. The leaf posture is free and graceful, the leaf texture is thick and substantial, combining firmness and softness with good elasticity. The leaf tips twist and droop, the veins are hard, there are 7 to 8 leaves, and the leaf sheaths are tight, possessing the general characteristics of lotus-petal plant type; the leaf surface, which shows very obvious signs of dehydration, is also the greatest feature distinguishing this variety from others.
The flower buds of Dangshan He are plump and perfectly round, resembling bullet tips when the buds are arranged. One scape bears 2-3 flowers. The flower color is pinkish white, elegant and generous, with brightly colored markings. The main and secondary petals are round and broad in shape. The three outer petals form the most standard lotus-petal flower, with a neat structure and a pinkish white background, interspersed with seven or eight green-purple vein lines; the vein lines are pale yellow filamentous streaks. The outer petals are moderate in proportion, with contracted bases and flared tips. The petaloids are large mussel-shell petaloids, tightly closed without opening a skylight, and paired with a large round lip with brilliantly red markings, making the entire center of the flower extremely compact with natural transitions. This variety is robust and easy to cultivate, relatively resistant to disease, and has a high shoot-production rate. With proper cultivation, the shoot-production rate reaches about 100%-200%, and the flowering rate is also relatively high.
