Characteristics of the Cymbidium goeringii cultivar Quanlu Mei
Discovered and named by Zhao Yinquan in Sanshe Village, Lizhu, Shaoxing, at Pingshui Town, Shaoxing County. Flower form: the flower shape is well-proportioned, the three outer petals are short and round, the inner petals clasp the center tightly, semi-hard hooded inner petals, and a ruyi tongue. The fragrance is subtle and lasting. A rare treasure among new plum-petal varieties. Leaf form: leaves are green and semi-arching.
Quanlu Mei was discovered by Zhao Yinquan of Shaoxing in Pingshui Town in the 1990s. When it blooms as a plum petal, the three outer petals are short and round, with round tips and tightly rolled edges, silkworm-moth inner petals, and a large round tongue drooping downward; the flower color is emerald green, and the flower scape is tall. Sometimes it blooms as a smooth-mouthed narcissus petal, in which case there is little to admire. The flower is not very stable, and it propagates easily.
