A variety with a legendary flavor. There are not many Cymbidium tortisepalum from Sichuan, but Yulong Mei was indeed bred and selected by Sichuan orchid enthusiasts; it is a Cymbidium tortisepalum, plum-petal type. It originated in Mabian, Sichuan, and was later developed, named and registered by orchid growers in Lijiang. It is a medium-wide-leaf Cymbidium tortisepalum with tall leaves, upright seedlings, strong upright growth habit and strong disease resistance. The plant height is generally 40-60 cm, and the leaf width is about 0.6-1.0 cm. New shoots emerge in a dark brownish-red color. It blooms around the Spring Festival, has a long flowering period, and the flowers hold well. One stem bears 2-4 flowers, and they are large plum-petal flowers of semi-hard stalk texture. The outer petals are plum-shaped lotus petals, with tightly rolled edges and narrowed bases, bean-pod-shaped sepals, the two sepals folded together, slightly thicker at the tips, slightly drooping shoulders, regular flower form, round lip, and bright red markings on the lip. The flower color is greenish-white, with purplish-red variegation along the petal edges. Its bearing is dignified and serene. It has high ornamental value and stable traits. The plum-petal flowers of Yulong Mei are larger than those of all other Cymbidium tortisepalum plum-petal flowers such as (Dian Mei), making it an outstanding one among plum-petal flowers! This variety has stiff and powerful leaf posture, three short and round outer petals, soft sepals, and a large big-liu-hai tongue. As soon as this flower appeared, it immediately attracted widespread attention in the orchid world. In recent years, its popularity has risen above Dian Mei. It is scarce in quantity and is a fine variety worth collecting and with ornamental value.
