Discovered by accident by Wang Mingfu, an orchid enthusiast from Xinchang, among small dragon-root seedlings he collected in 2006 from Zhoushan. It bloomed again for the first time in 2009 and was sent to the Xinchang County Spring Orchid Exhibition, where it delightfully won a gold award. That year, seeing this flower at the exhibition site, I was exceptionally astonished. The surrounding orchid enthusiasts all clicked their tongues in wonder, marveling that in this vast world, anything can happen! Such a grass-like plant, able to bloom with lotus-petal flowers - who would believe it without seeing it with their own eyes!

Yet bloom it did. "Believe it or not, I believe it anyway!" This saying only appeared two years later, which made it a classic. Hehe, I reckon it could have been popular even back then!
Jinniuhe has emerald-green flower color, medium flower size, tall flower scapes, green flower stems, and pale blue-purple bracts with a jade-like texture. The U (V)-shaped water-red patch on the round lip becomes an inescapable visual center, and the overall flower form is harmonious and eye-catching. Lotus-petal flowers held above the leaves are rarely seen, and Jinniuhe has this capital that makes people look up to it.

I once asked the flower's owner Wang Mingfu over the phone, and he said that today's Jinniuhe plants have already grown decently and possess the full bearing of lotus-petal orchid foliage. Before the flower came onto the scene, it was not regarded as anything special, casually placed outdoors without careful care, and after blooming until fade, most of the plants had hollow roots. In addition, lotus-petal orchids have poor seedling propagation, and nearly 3 years after its debut, the number of seedlings still had not increased.
