Introduction to the variety characteristics of Liangzhu Ruidie Chunlan (Cymbidium goeringii 'Liangzhu Ruidie')
A famous flower discovered in Xinchang, Zhejiang, it has won awards many times and once sold at a high price. Strictly speaking, the flower belongs to the flower-petal type and cannot be counted as a three-star. The quantity is relatively small, and the flower can be considered an fine variety.
At present, the general understanding in orchid circles is: those whose petals form a throat are classified as the rui-die type; rui-die, based on the degree of butterfly transformation and symmetry, further gives rise to the three-star (rui); those whose petals do not form a throat, or do so indistinctly, yet show butterfly transformation, are classified as the flower-petal type. Additionally: the commonly called famous variety Hua Hudie also comes from Xiaoliang in Xinchang, the same origin as Hu Rui, and is not produced in Anhui; the famous rui-die from Anhui presumably refers to Dalong Yanzhi and Xiongmao Ruidie.
