Introduction to the Cymbidium goeringii 'Duzi' ('Chenzi') Variety
A representative new variety of Anhui Cymbidium goeringii. The flowers are large; the three outer petals are rounded and thick; the three inner petals tightly embrace the lip; the lip is short and thick and slightly upturned inward; the column is large and pale green; the fragrance is extraordinary! It is an excellent variety of Cymbidium goeringii!
In the 1990s it was collected in Anhui, dug up by Li Congling of Shucheng, and sold in parts to Du Yun'an of Hefei and Chen Haijiao of Changshu. Because it was a new flower, both men gave it a name, hence the names Duzi and Chenzi. After being exhibited in 1993 and winning a gold award, it became widely famous.
