Shuguang (Dawn): a colored-flower variety. In 1990, Ye Huahai of Lizhu, Shaoxing, bought it from a Tangzhen orchid farmer; it originated in Zhoushan. The three outer petals are long and broad; the tips of all five petals have yellow claw-like markings; the lip is rolled; the flower stance is large and upright; the flower scape is tall; the shoulders are level. The bud sheaths are mercury red; the leaves are upright in posture with white marginal variegation; it propagates easily.
A famous variety at the 2001 National Orchid Exhibition.
The inner and outer petals are layered in multiple, closely packed rows; the color is brown-red; more than ten flower lips cluster around the column, like a miniature peony blossom, very lovely. It is a strange-form flower variety of Chunlan (Spring Orchid) and also one of the top ten strange flowers.
