"Laojun He" originates from Laojun Mountain in Lijiang, Yunnan. It was selected in 1992 from wild-collected plants. It blooms stably every year. The leaves are 40 cm long and about 0.7 cm wide, semi-arching. The flowering period is from January to February. The flower stalk is 20 cm tall, with two flowers per stalk. The sepals are 2.5 cm long and 1.6 cm wide, with a very round petal tip, a pouch, thick texture, a narrowed base and flared corners. The mussel-shell-shaped petals fit tightly together, wrapping around the column. The overall shape of the flower resembles Taishang Laojun, with a dignified appearance and a calm, composed bearing. It has won gold awards at successive Lijiang regional orchid shows.
