When I went to Xinjiang, I bought a few Hami melons. They were so sweet. After eating them, my fingers almost stuck together. A friend asked why they were so sweet, since it is rarely like this in the south. The biggest reason is the temperature difference. In summer in Xinjiang, daytime temperatures reach as high as 40°C, while nighttime temperatures are only around 10°C or more. Plants photosynthesize during the day. At night they respire. At night they constantly consume nutrients, and also release energy to support the plant's development and growth, and to produce organic matter. When the temperature difference is small, more nutrients are consumed, causing poor growth and development, plump pseudobulbs are not achieved, and few flower buds and leaf buds are produced, and they are weak. A large temperature difference is the opposite, allowing better accumulation of nutrients. In summer, high daytime temperatures are not frightening. The key is to lower the environmental temperature for growing orchids at night. It is best to have a temperature difference of more than 10°C.
