Expert comments: This species originates from wild Cymbidium lianpan in the Three Parallel Rivers region of Yunnan. It produces mother-and-child flowers, shown as small flowers at the base of the flower stalk, sometimes also borne at the joint where the bract is attached, and also borne at the base of the petals of the main flower; most are butterfly-like small flowers, with great ornamental value. After many years of cultivation, the traits are stable, and registration is approved.
