Purchased in mid-April 2000 from a Wang surnamed orchid merchant in Tongbai County, Henan, it is a red-to-green plum-petal variety.

When it was collected from the wild that year, it consisted of two straight old growths with no new shoots. The leaves stand upright one by one, medium width about 1CM, length more than 40CM. By that autumn it had grown one new shoot, with leaves slanting and half-drooping, leaf color slightly yellow.

The three outer petals have round tips and finely tapered bases, tightly edged, with a level shoulder. Standard soft silkworm-moth pollinia, with the two pollinia petals of each flower extremely symmetrical in size and length, and glossy. The broad round lip opens out and does not curl back even as the flower fades. It is rare for a Huilan (Cymbidium faberi) to have such an ideal lip. Viewing the whole flower, the center is full, and the three outer petals are round, compact, thick and waxy - truly gentle and elegant, exquisite and beautiful, indeed the finest among the cleverly bred forms of Huilan.
