Introduction to the Characteristics of the Cymbidium ensifolium 'Xianshan Jinyan' Variety
New shoots are peach-red; after the leaves open, the young leaves are milky yellow with vermilion-red veins, gradually turning green as they grow. The leaf base is upright, the leaf tip droops slightly, the leaf blade is narrow and slender, and the leaf groove is deep, becoming flat toward the leaf tip. When blooming, the bud sheaths and the outer layers of the petals bear brown-red veins; after opening, the inner layers are plain white with a faint light green tinge. Discovered in 1988 in Xianshan, Miaoli, Taiwan, China, and selected and bred by Wu Jinyan of Zhudong. New shoots are peach-red, turning green in mature plants. The leaf base is upright, the leaf tip droops slightly, the leaf shape is fine, the leaf groove is deep, and it becomes flat near the leaf tip. The bud sheaths and the outer layers of the petals are crimson-red; the inner layers of the petals are light emerald green without crimson veins. When the flower bud opens, it is like peeling a banana skin, and the petal tips gradually curl outward to the side, forming a 360-degree curl. The snow-white cat's-ear column is slightly open forward, and the snow-white lip curls backward with a wavy lip margin. This variety is a standard red-bud plain-heart type. Although the petals curl backward, the flaw does not obscure the beauty; instead, it adds to it. It is also one of the plain-heart exotic flowers.
