[Yunshang Tongzi] Originated in the forests of Shidian County, Baoshan City, and was later entirely purchased by the senior Kunming orchid enthusiast Mr. Zhang, and after many years of cultivation, its form and flowering have remained stable; semi-upright leaves, elegant and handsome, blooms from December to February of the following year, flowers are large and held above the foliage, with 2-4 flowers per scape, standard lotus-petal type, the flowers appear deep purplish-red, with the front and back completely the same color. What is most remarkable is that the ovary is relatively open, and each flower rises one level higher than the one below, as if ascending straight into the clouds; the ru-yi-shaped flower tongue bears a huge colored patch, resembling a sycee shape, and the petals together with the flower tongue form the image of a child, hence the name *Yunshang Tongzi*.
