Discovered in 1963, registered in Taiwan, China in 1977 as a new "variety"; in 982 it was entered into the "Record of Famous Chinese Orchid Varieties," and was named Taohime by Mr. Peng Shuangshong (a representative of the red-flower series), beloved for its vivid flower color, delicate pink beauty, and elegant, graceful foliage. Taohime once won a special gold award in Japan and gained wide recognition among orchid enthusiasts.

Taohime has peach-red bamboo-leaf-shaped petals, a flat one-character shoulder, crab-claw-shaped stamen and pistil, and a snow-white lip inlaid with fine red spots. The leaves are broad and long, with a slightly curled leaf shape, and peach-red shoots. The new shoots appear pink at first and turn green after growing out. Its flower stalk is a transparent agate color, with a delicate fragrance; the flowers have flat shoulders, and the flower color is white with a pink base, very delicate and charming. The leaves droop, with the base slightly twisted.
