Central finance provides 2.6 billion yuan to support the building of the grassroots agricultural technology extension system

Recently, the central finance allocated 2.6 billion yuan in 2015 funds for the transformation of agricultural and forestry scientific and technological achievements and technology extension, to support the reform and building of the grassroots agricultural technology extension system.

It is understood that since 2009, the central finance has arranged funds to support the reform and building of the grassroots agricultural technology extension system. Up to now, a cumulative total of 12.77 billion yuan has been invested. Since 2012, the project for the reform and building of the grassroots agricultural technology extension system has basically covered all agricultural counties across the country.

Since the implementation of this policy, it has effectively promoted the reform and building of the grassroots agricultural technology extension system, clarified the public-benefit positioning of grassroots agricultural technology extension work, stabilized the agricultural technology extension team, and improved the technical service model of “experts assigned to make fixed-point contact at the county level, agricultural technology personnel taking charge of villages and connecting with households” and “experts + experimental demonstration bases + agricultural technology extension personnel + science and technology demonstration households + radiating and driving households”, accelerated the transformation of agricultural scientific and technological achievements. The household coverage rate and in-place rate of leading varieties and main promoted technologies both reached above 95%, and the household visit rate of agricultural technology personnel reached 97%.
