Nationwide synchronized stock enhancement and release activities held across the country
On June 6, the nationwide synchronized stock enhancement and release activities organized and advocated by the Ministry of Agriculture were held simultaneously in various places. A total of 23 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country participated in this activity, holding 90 large-scale stock enhancement and release events and releasing more than 1 billion units of aquatic organism seedlings.
On that day, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Fujian Provincial Government and China National Offshore Oil Corporation, jointly held the 2015 National Synchronized Stock Enhancement and Release Activity (main venue) and the Taiwan Strait Stock Enhancement and Release Activity in Fuzhou, releasing more than 400 million units of important economic and rare and endangered species seedlings, including large yellow croaker, spotted sea bass and yellowfin seabream. This activity is also an important measure to implement the Letter of Intent on Cooperation in Cold-Water Fish Farming Technology and Fishery Resource Conservation signed by relevant parties in the fishery sectors on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and the two sides will work together to increase the intensity of stock enhancement and release in the Taiwan Strait.
A relevant person from the Ministry of Agriculture stated that stock enhancement and release is an important measure for restoring aquatic biological resources and plays an important role in restoring fishery population resources, improving the aquatic ecological environment, and promoting fishery efficiency and fishermen's income growth. Since the "12th Five-Year Plan," the state has increased support for aquatic biological stock enhancement and release, with cumulative national investment of nearly 4 billion yuan and the release of more than 120 billion units of various seedlings. The social influence of stock enhancement and release activities has been increasingly strengthened, and many places have designated June 6 each year as "Fish Release Day" or "Fish Release Festival," holding related activities such as aquatic biological stock enhancement and release and science popularization practice education.
