China is already the world's largest producer and consumer of agricultural products, yet in recent years, difficulties in selling agricultural products have frequently occurred in various places. How to solve this problem and form an orderly, efficient and sustainable environment for production, operation and consumption requires joint efforts from government departments and institutions as well as the vast number of growers, breeders and operators, who should find solutions suited to local conditions.

There are many causes of the difficulty in selling agricultural products. For example, production and business operators do not have a comprehensive and symmetrical grasp of market information, resulting in erroneous analysis and judgment, blindly expanding the scale of production, and leading to oversupply of agricultural products; another example is that in the past, agricultural products from a certain region were mostly sold locally, but with the advent of the internet era and the era of large-scale logistics, the exchange volume of agricultural products from various places has increased dramatically, and competition in product quality and price has become increasingly fierce, giving consumers more choices; yet another example is the rise in costs of production, processing, labor, warehousing and transportation, which has diluted the profits of agricultural products. In addition, there are also the effects of seasons and climate on the sale of agricultural products, and so on.

How can this series of problems be solved?

The government should take action. First, according to actual conditions, it should increase subsidies and other support for agricultural products, especially those closely related to people's daily lives; and advance agricultural product insurance work to reduce production and operation risks.

Second, further reduce the costs of agricultural products in circulation and other links. The government should, by improving the large-market mechanism and perfecting the agricultural product market system, reduce the intermediate links in supply and create an efficient, fair and orderly agricultural product market.

Third, strengthen guidance for the development of agricultural product production and business operators. At present, relevant departments have not done enough in guiding production and business operators to develop production through market information analysis and judgment, and in guiding them to adapt to the new situation and innovate marketing models.

For the vast number of production and business operators, policy support and an improved market environment are certainly important, but giving play to subjective initiative and striving to cope with competition and challenges is equally important. They should actively learn new knowledge, be brave in trying new methods, and not wait or rely on others but find more solutions themselves. Only in this way can they seek advantages and avoid disadvantages, and move forward in development.
