Cymbidium sinense 'Ruanjian Baimo' (Shiba Xueshi) Variety Introduction
Shiba Xueshi originally had no variegation, with wide and long leaves, arching mid-leaves, tall and outstanding flowers, pure-colored flowers with a delicate fragrance, and tall flower scapes exceeding one meter. Guangdong flower growers commonly call it Ruanjian Baimo (Soft-Sword White Ink). Variegated forms include white-tipped variegation; the yellow-tipped variegation is called Beichen. There are also spotted-striped variegation and center-translucent variegation, originating from Zhongshan and called Jintong. A yellow-tipped striped variegation has not been named. In early years, variegated plants were taken by Taiwanese orchid enthusiasts to Taiwan, China, for development, including center-spotted variegation and center-translucent variegation.
